Job description

Overview

The Senior Electrical Technician will provide vital support for Expansion Project electrical operations including pre-commissioning, commissioning, preservation, and start-up activities. They will also carry out electrical field maintenance to guarantee the consistent reliability and availability of assets across various QatarEnergy LNG facilities such as North, South, RLTO & Refining, Barzan, and NFE.

Key Challenges

This role involves collaboration with project EPCI contractors and project management teams offshore. It may include work associated with construction at contractor yard sites to advance facility expansions.

Primary Duties

  • Assist in pre-commissioning, commissioning, preservation, and startup of new equipment and facilities.
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on electrical field equipment according to safety protocols.
  • Confirm availability and condition of required materials and spares before maintenance tasks.
  • Follow established maintenance procedures ensuring workplace safety and proper controls.
  • Maintain accurate records and submit comprehensive reports of completed jobs as guided by supervisors.
  • Participate actively in troubleshooting electrical field issues and promptly document findings.
  • Analyze technical documents including P&IDs, loop and hookup drawings, electrical indices, datasheets, and logic diagrams to resolve equipment issues.
  • Use calibrated and certified instruments suited to the job type while complying with Intrinsic Safety (IS) requirements.
  • Engage in regular safety meetings and report all near misses, incidents, and accidents through the company's safety reporting tools.
  • Seek support for complex equipment failures from superintendents, vendors, or OEM as necessary.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Completion of secondary school education supplemented by vocational training (e.g., TAFE).
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a technician within the oil & gas or petrochemical sectors.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong command of English in both verbal and written communication.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance and condition monitoring techniques.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Ability to interpret electrical technical drawings and related documentation.
  • Cultural adaptability to a multinational work environment.
