Role Overview

As a Senior Electrical Engineer specialising in distribution design, you will serve as the technical authority while spearheading a growing engineering team. Your responsibilities include delivering innovative electrical engineering solutions and ensuring the successful execution of projects with national importance. Collaboration with clients, field personnel, and contractors is integral to the role.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the principal expert in electrical distribution system design.
• Develop engineering solutions tailored to client requirements.
• Prepare comprehensive technical documentation adhering to best engineering and industry standards.
• Lead and mentor the engineering team, fostering performance and professional development.
• Coordinate closely with clients, field teams, and subcontractors to facilitate project success.
• Manage several design and engineering assignments concurrently.
• Create detailed reports and deliver compelling presentations.
• Address and resolve technical challenges alongside in-house engineering staff.
• Establish and maintain productive relationships with network and asset owners as well as principal contractors.
• Identify and contribute to new business opportunities.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
• At least five years of experience in electrical distribution design within New Zealand.
• In-depth understanding of electrical regulations, industry standards, contracting procedures, contract law, and New Zealand electricity distribution standards.
• Demonstrated capability in mentoring junior engineers and enhancing team growth.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of producing clear, concise reports and presentations.
• Strong organizational skills with an ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.
