Position Overview
The Senior Director responsible for the Target account will spearhead sales growth initiatives, enhance customer relationships, and unlock business potential within Target stores. This role involves strategizing account plans, orchestrating sales activities, coordinating promotions, and collaborating across departments to elevate the company's footprint and performance at Target.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design and implement thorough Joint Business Plans (JBP) founded on data insights to boost revenue, expand product distribution, and increase market share at Target.
- Spot new business avenues such as product assortment enlargement, promotional campaigns, and category development tactics.
- Create both short-term and long-term strategies aligned with organizational goals and Target's priorities, acting as the main point of contact for this national retail account.
- Forge and sustain strong partnerships with Target buyers, category managers, and influential stakeholders.
- Manage relationships efficiently with brokers, distributors, and agencies to ensure flawless retail operations and alignment with company objectives.
- Conduct necessary business travels to Target's headquarters in Minnesota and other assigned regions to meet with buyers and perform market assessments.
- Leverage Target’s vendor systems like SBP, VIQ, and IMN alongside syndicated category data to make informed recommendations.
- Track and evaluate account performance, identifying risks and areas to capitalize on while proposing necessary adjustments.
- Prepare comprehensive sales forecasts, business reviews, promotional effectiveness analyses, and account performance summaries.
- Plan and oversee promotional programs, pricing tactics, trade activities, and seasonal campaigns, working collaboratively with internal teams to guarantee timely execution.
- Assess promotional results to suggest improvements that optimize return on investment.
- Collaborate across marketing, supply chain, finance, customer service, and operations functions to secure smooth business operations for the Target account.
- Handle product availability issues, order fulfillment, pricing disputes, claims, deductions, and customer service concerns effectively.
- Ensure all activities comply with company policies, client requirements, and legal standards while maintaining confidentiality and professional integrity.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum 10 years of sales expertise, especially within CPG, food, grocery, retail, or consumer products sectors.
- Demonstrated success managing significant retail or national key accounts.
- Thorough understanding of retail sales dynamics, category management, trade promotional strategies, forecasting, and broker oversight.
- Exceptional negotiation, communication, presentation, and relationship-building abilities.
- Proficient analytical skills to transform sales metrics into actionable business strategies.
- Capacity to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, notably Excel and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct involvement with Target accounts or prior employment with Target or recognized suppliers, specialty CPG brokers, or major retailers.
- Familiarity with Target’s organizational retail structure, buyer processes, category review schedule, and supplier expectations.
- Experience specializing in Asian food, grocery, snack, noodle, or packaged food categories.
- Hands-on experience in sales planning, trade spend optimization, retail execution, and conducting customer business reviews.
- Preference given to candidates located near Target headquarters or those capable of supporting frequent Target meetings and market visits.

Compensation and Work Arrangement
- Annual base salary ranging from $150000 to $175000 plus bonuses and incentive plans, negotiable based on experience.
- Initial onboarding for one month in-person, transitioning to a flexible remote/hybrid work model thereafter.
