Company overview

Anagen Labs is a fast-growing haircare startup entering a major scale-up phase, with plans to expand through direct-to-consumer sales, TikTok Shop, Amazon FBA, international channels, and major U.S. retail partnerships. The company’s goal is to create a standout haircare and beauty brand by combining innovative products, strong execution, and an excellent customer experience.

Role summary

The Senior Director of Supply Chain & Operations will build, lead, and continuously improve the company’s end-to-end operating model. This leadership role sits on the executive team and reports to the GM. It spans supply chain, operations, logistics, fulfillment, production, quality, regulatory, procurement, inventory, and retail operations as the business expands quickly.

This person will need to operate at a strategic leadership level while also staying close to day-to-day execution across suppliers, manufacturers, 3PL partners, retailers, freight providers, and internal stakeholders. The preferred background is in beauty, personal care, cosmetics, CPG, wellness, or a closely related consumer category, especially in high-growth omnichannel settings.

Supply chain strategy and operations

  • Create and execute the overall supply chain and operations plan to support growth across DTC, retail, Amazon FBA, TikTok Shop, and international markets.
  • Design scalable SOPs, systems, KPIs, and reporting tools.
  • Direct operational planning so service levels, inventory targets, margin goals, and customer expectations are met consistently.
  • Set up cross-functional operating rhythms between sales, finance, marketing, product, customer experience, and leadership.
  • Own supply continuity, inventory health, and operating efficiency.

Demand planning and inventory management

  • Take ownership of forecasting and inventory planning across all channels.
  • Maintain rolling forecasts, inventory models, safety stock levels, reorder points, and production schedules.
  • Balance inventory availability, cash flow, and working capital by optimizing stock levels.
  • Track inventory accuracy across warehouses, 3PLs, Amazon FBA, and international partners.
  • Handle inventory reconciliation, cycle counts, aged stock, obsolete inventory, and shrinkage.
  • Manage WIP, finished goods, and inventory movement visibility.

Manufacturing and production management

  • Oversee third-party manufacturing partners and production vendors.
  • Negotiate manufacturing contracts, timelines, service expectations, and pricing.
  • Coordinate production plans for launches, replenishment, promotions, and retail growth.
  • Monitor manufacturing capacity and supplier execution.
  • Work with product development on commercialization and launch readiness.
  • Keep BOMs, standard costs, and production documentation current.
  • Drive ongoing improvements in quality, cost, lead time, and operational efficiency.

Procurement and vendor management

  • Lead sourcing, purchasing, and procurement for raw materials, components, packaging, finished goods, and operating services.
  • Develop strong supplier relationships in domestic and international markets.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, MOQs, lead times, and service agreements.
  • Set up supplier scorecards and performance tracking.
  • Find opportunities to reduce costs, improve margins, and lower supply risk.
  • Oversee purchase order creation, approval, tracking, and reconciliation.

Logistics, freight, and fulfillment

  • Manage inbound and outbound logistics.
  • Handle domestic and international freight, parcel shipping, freight forwarding, customs coordination, and freight strategy.
  • Own the relationship with 3PLs and warehouse partners.
  • Ensure strong performance in receiving, warehousing, shipping, returns, and fulfillment SLAs.
  • Improve shipping cost, routing, carrier selection, and delivery performance.
  • Build scalable retail routing, retailer compliance, and EDI capabilities for nationwide distribution.
  • Support fulfillment across DTC, TikTok Shop, Amazon FBA, wholesale, and international channels.
  • Prepare operations for major retailer onboarding and compliance demands.

Retail operations and EDI

  • Lead operational integration with major U.S. retail partners.
  • Oversee EDI implementation and ongoing retail operations requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to retailer routing guides, OTIF standards, ASN requirements, labeling rules, chargeback avoidance, and replenishment needs.
  • Coordinate readiness for retail launches, promotional activity, and replenishment programs.

Quality, regulatory, and compliance

  • Oversee QA, QC, and regulatory compliance processes.
  • Ensure products meet FDA requirements, MoCRA obligations, retailer compliance expectations, WERCS-related standards, and relevant international regulations.
  • Manage product testing, specifications, batch records, COAs, and compliance documentation.
  • Build and maintain quality management systems and supplier quality programs.
  • Lead response efforts for quality issues, recalls, CAPAs, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain compliance with safety, labeling, transportation, import/export, and industry rules.

Financial and operational performance

  • Own operating budgets, forecasts, and cost control efforts.
  • Monitor and improve COGS, freight expense, warehousing spend, fulfillment cost, and inventory carrying cost.
  • Partner with finance on inventory valuation, margin analysis, accruals, and reporting.
  • Track core KPIs such as fill rate, OTIF, inventory turns, forecast accuracy, service levels, lead times, and fulfillment performance.
  • Implement process improvements that strengthen profitability, scale, and resilience.

Leadership and team development

  • Build and lead a high-performing supply chain and operations team.
  • Hire, coach, and develop team members across operations, logistics, procurement, planning, and compliance.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, speed, collaboration, and operational excellence.
  • Act as a strategic partner to executive leadership.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred, and an MBA or other advanced degree is a plus. The role calls for at least 10 years of progressive leadership experience in supply chain and operations, ideally in beauty, haircare, cosmetics, personal care, wellness, or CPG. Candidates should have a track record of scaling operations in a fast-growing omnichannel consumer business and hands-on experience with 3PLs, domestic and international freight, fulfillment, and retailer compliance.

Strong capability in demand planning, inventory control, production planning, procurement, and supplier management is required, along with exposure to Amazon FBA, DTC, wholesale, national retail, TikTok Shop, and international distribution. Additional strengths include familiarity with FDA cosmetic regulations, MoCRA, QA/QC systems, regulatory requirements, financial management of COGS, BOMs, inventory valuation, and budgets, as well as experience using ERP, forecasting, inventory, and supply chain tools. Experience bringing products into major retail accounts and managing international sourcing and global supply chains is important. Startup or founder-led company experience is strongly preferred.
