About the Role
MSR Technology Group, a company honored on the Inc. 500/5000 list for seven consecutive years, is urgently seeking a Senior Director or Director for the Office of the CIO in Troy, Michigan. This long-term contract position reports directly to the Chief Information Officer and involves strategic leadership of key IT operational functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the IT operating rhythm, including executive reporting, dashboards, performance metrics, and materials prepared for board review.
- Direct the Project Management Office (PMO) and IT portfolio management to ensure projects meet their scope, deadlines, and budgets.
- Manage IT financial operations such as budgeting, forecasting, accruals, capital expenditure oversight, and liaison with Corporate Finance.
- Lead IT procurement activities and vendor contract administration, focusing on favorable terms and spending governance.
- Develop and enforce IT governance policies, standards, decision rights, and escalation procedures.
- Coordinate IT workforce planning and collaborate with Human Resources throughout the IT department.
- Provide strategic support to the CIO through executive engagement and external communications.
- Handle IT audit and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) evidence requests in coordination with Security and Controls teams.
- Recruit, manage, and develop the Office of the CIO team, including performance and skill enhancement.
- Participate in IT leadership decisions relating to strategy, priorities, and resource distribution.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Finance, or a related discipline.
- At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in IT operations leadership, PMO management, IT financial oversight, or Chief of Staff positions.
- Proven track record establishing or transforming IT governance structures and operational cadence at scale.
- Experience managing PMO functions over portfolios exceeding $25 million with multiple concurrent strategic projects.
- Practical expertise in IT financial planning, budgeting, accruals, and capital expenditure management.
- Strong collaboration history with CIO, CFO, business unit heads, and external auditors.
- Experience working within a publicly traded company environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree such as an MBA is highly preferred.
- Combined experience in management consulting and internal IT operations leadership.
- Familiarity with Technology Business Management (TBM) frameworks and IT cost chargeback methodologies.
- Experience leading IT procurement and negotiating major vendor contracts.
- Relevant certifications such as PMP, PgMP, or equivalent program management credentials.
