Position Overview

The Senior Director / Director of the Office of the CIO leads the function responsible for making IT operations measurable, reliable, and accountable. This Chief of Staff-like leadership position oversees the Project Management Office (PMO), IT financial matters, procurement, and governance ensuring transparency, trust, and efficiency in IT delivery and spending.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct the IT operating cadence including executive reports, dashboards, performance metrics, and materials suitable for board presentations.
  • Lead the PMO and IT portfolio management to guarantee projects meet scope, schedule, and budget targets.
  • Manage IT financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, accruals, capital expenditures while collaborating with Corporate Finance.
  • Oversee IT procurement and vendor contracts by negotiating favorable agreements and enforcing spend governance.
  • Establish and maintain IT governance policies, standards, decision-making authority, and escalation procedures.
  • Coordinate IT workforce planning in partnership with HR across the IT organization.
  • Support CIO with strategic initiatives, executive communications, and external engagements.
  • Manage audit preparation and SOX compliance evidence requests in collaboration with Security and Controls teams.
  • Build and lead the Office of the CIO team focusing on recruitment, staff performance, and capability enhancement.
  • Participate in IT Leadership Team decisions regarding strategy, resource distribution, and operational priorities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Finance, or related disciplines.
  • At least 10 years progressive experience in IT operations leadership, PMO leadership, IT financial management, or Chief of Staff roles.
  • Proven experience implementing or transforming IT governance and operational cadence at scale.
  • Experienced leading PMO for portfolios exceeding $25 million with concurrent strategic initiatives.
  • Hands-on expertise in IT financial planning, budgeting, accruals, and capital management.
  • Successful collaboration with CIOs, CFOs, business leaders, and external auditors.
  • Experience working within a publicly traded company.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA degree is highly desirable.
  • Combined experience in management consulting and in-house IT operations leadership.
  • Familiarity with Technology Business Management (TBM) frameworks and IT chargeback models.
  • Background in managing IT procurement and large vendor contract negotiations.
  • Certifications such as PMP, PgMP, or equivalent in program management.
