Job description

About the Role

Our client, a venture-capital backed, founder-led B2B technology scale-up, is seeking a Senior Director of People & Culture to join their fully remote, global team spanning dozens of countries. The company culture is carefully cultivated through ingrained values reflected in employee reviews, compensation, promotions, and regular in-person company-wide offsites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the People function comprehensively, acting as a strategic partner to the executive team, including organizational design during rapid scaling.
  • Manage performance review cycles, calibration processes, and uphold a no-surprises performance culture.
  • Oversee compensation structures, maintaining transparent salary bands and conducting compensation cycles.
  • Handle global employment compliance across multiple countries, including direct entities as well as Employer of Record (EOR) and contractor arrangements, with attention to GDPR and country-specific labor laws.
  • Manage people budget and vendor relationships, including payroll oversight, benefit renewals and negotiations, and collaborate with Finance to ensure cost discipline.
  • Enable managers and develop leadership capabilities across a distributed workforce.
  • Drive culture and engagement initiatives such as employee surveys, internal communications, recognition programs, and company offsites.

Candidate Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to balance cultural leadership—engaging teams remotely and hosting key company events—with strong governance skills.
  • Proven experience managing multi-country employment including EOR models, GDPR compliance, pay transparency laws, payroll monitoring, and benefits budgets, with peer-level interaction with Finance and Legal teams.
  • A minimum of 8 years in People roles, including at least 3 years leading a function, preferably within distributed or global scale-ups.
  • Proficient with modern HR technology platforms and a passion for leveraging AI and automation to enhance HR systems.
  • Bias toward action and continuous system improvement.

What’s Offered

  • A fully remote position with a global team that gathers in person multiple times annually.
  • Competitive salary package including bonus, stock options, and private health benefits.
  • Opportunity to inherit and lead a high-functioning People team with existing momentum.
  • Executive-level access and significant influence over how the company scales its workforce and culture.
