Overview

This leadership opportunity is for a Senior Director responsible for enhancing hospice quality, education, and clinical programs across a nationwide healthcare system in the United States. The role involves spearheading quality improvement initiatives, developing training strategies, and ensuring regulatory adherence to elevate patient care experiences and clinical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage continuous quality improvement efforts in hospice care, employing structured methodologies to advance service standards.
  • Design, roll out, and assess comprehensive clinical education, training curricula, and staff development initiatives.
  • Ensure strict compliance with Medicare Conditions of Participation, accreditation protocols, and healthcare regulations.
  • Direct and support education and quality teams, fostering the effective delivery and sustainability of professional learning programs.
  • Partner with clinical and human resources leadership to coordinate onboarding and ongoing professional growth for staff members.
  • Implement systems to monitor patient care quality, safety parameters, risk management, infection prevention, accurate documentation, and customer satisfaction.
  • Drive documentation enhancement projects, including leadership of audit task forces.
  • Analyze quality metrics and performance data, producing actionable recommendations to leadership.
  • Oversee audit procedures such as chart reviews and corrective measures planning.
  • Maintain readiness for regulatory scrutiny through up-to-date knowledge of hospice standards and Medicare criteria.
  • Manage key performance indicators and communicate progress reports to executive leadership teams.
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to optimize educational and operational resources.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives aimed at organizational growth and excellence in hospice services.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Active, current Registered Nurse (RN) license mandatory.
  • Minimum of 7 years clinical experience within hospice or home health care settings preferred.
  • At least 5 years’ leadership experience overseeing teams in healthcare environments.
  • Familiarity with CMS survey processes, accreditation standards, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Deep understanding of Medicare regulations, Hospice Conditions of Participation, Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI), and ACHC accreditation.
  • Proven track record in developing and refining organizational quality metrics and improving care delivery.
  • Knowledgeable in medical terminology, documentation standards, and fundamental ICD-10 coding.
  • Experience with hospice documentation software, such as Homecare Homebase (HCHB), is an advantage.
  • Strong grasp of adult learning theory and proven effectiveness in delivering training programs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent organizational skills able to balance multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Capable of independent work combined with effective collaboration in cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities including team building and managing change initiatives.
