About the Role

This senior leadership position provides an exceptional opportunity to establish and lead a robust corporate compliance function at a pivotal stage of organizational expansion. Situated within an innovative healthcare setting, the role focuses on creating governance, risk management frameworks, and promoting ethical business conduct to facilitate commercial readiness and sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute a company-wide compliance strategy, including commercialization preparedness initiatives.
  • Develop and manage a scalable, risk-oriented compliance program aligned with industry-recognized healthcare standards.
  • Implement governance frameworks, policies, procedures, and operational processes that underpin responsible organizational growth.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership by identifying risks, regulatory trends, and opportunities impacting business decisions.
  • Collaborate with diverse teams such as Commercial, Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, Market Access, HR, Finance, Privacy, and Legal to integrate compliance throughout daily operations.
  • Offer expert guidance on healthcare compliance matters, including engagements with healthcare professionals, promotional practices, patient programs, grants, speaker initiatives, and transparency requirements.
  • Maintain compliance metrics and reporting systems to evaluate program effectiveness and foster ongoing improvements.
  • Conduct enterprise-wide compliance risk assessments and deploy monitoring efforts to detect and address issues.
  • Oversee compliance reporting channels, investigations, corrective measures, remediation, and continuous enhancement processes.
  • Manage third-party compliance activities, including vendor diligence, onboarding, monitoring, and recertification for consultants and partners.
  • Plan and develop the compliance department’s organizational structure, resource allocation, and capability growth.
  • Supervise external compliance consultants and budgets while advancing internal proficiency and operational maturity.
  • Build trusted relationships company-wide to influence decisions with credibility and sound judgment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Life Sciences, Healthcare Administration, or similar fields; advanced degrees (JD, MBA, MPH, MS) preferred.
  • At least 12 years of progressive experience in compliance within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or healthcare sectors.
  • Proven success in establishing or enhancing comprehensive compliance programs, especially during commercialization transitions.
  • Extensive understanding of healthcare compliance regulations such as FDA promotional rules, Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, Sunshine Act/Open Payments, PhRMA Code, HIPAA, and related laws.
  • Experience supporting commercial teams and preparing compliance infrastructures for market launches.
  • Strong influence and stakeholder management skills at senior executive levels.
  • Exceptional project and program management abilities, capable of leading complex cross-functional initiatives.
  • Competence in developing long-term compliance strategies, governance models, and managing organizational change.
  • Adeptness at managing multiple priorities and delivering measurable results in fast-paced environments.
  • Robust operational leadership translating strategic vision into actionable plans and ensuring team accountability.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills tailored to executive audiences.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive annual salary nationally ranging from $265,000 to $285,000, with Bay Area salaries from $275,000 to $295,000, based on experience and location.
