Job Summary

The Senior Director, Global Commercial Learning & Development Strategy & Enablement is a pivotal senior leadership role focused on designing, implementing, and scaling sophisticated training and learning programs for our global commercial teams. The primary objective is to enhance Customer Lifetime Value (CLV) and foster commercial talent development. This position acts as a crucial link between organizational strategy and practical execution, ensuring that all Learning & Development (L&D) initiatives are effective, scalable, compliant, and aligned with overarching enterprise objectives. The ideal candidate is an innovative learning architect with strong executive presence, hands-on expertise in instructional design and automation, and the ability to excel in dynamic, complex environments. This role will provide mentorship across the commercial organization, ensuring excellence in both internal and external training delivery. Furthermore, it plays a key part in customer education and the development of internal training tools for commercial staff, collaborating with Human Resources to leverage all available internal programs, systems, and resources. As a member of the Commercial Management Team, this position may oversee 1-2 full-time employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive global commercial L&D strategy, emphasizing automation for innovation and scalability, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals and addressing performance gaps.
  • Create and manage a detailed training calendar for both customers and internal commercial teams, ensuring cross-functional coordination with Sales, Service & Consumables, Clinical, GBU, Marketing, and Post-Sales departments.
  • Conduct quarterly reviews to present learning insights and strategic recommendations to senior leadership, aligning with the company's CLV objectives.
  • Lead change management efforts, supporting the adoption of critical global transitions and new tool implementations through well-structured learning programs.
  • Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and analytics to rigorously assess learning effectiveness and program impact.
  • Implement standardized instructional design methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) and adult learning principles for all internal and external training programs.
  • Leverage modern training tools, techniques, and delivery methods to maximize learner retention and drive behavioral change.
  • Oversee the entire commercial learning lifecycle, from needs assessment and design to development, delivery, and evaluation, utilizing blended learning approaches (in-person, virtual, e-learning).
  • Perform gap analyses and needs assessments to ensure learning objectives are precise, relevant, and contribute directly to revenue generation.
  • Spearhead the modernization of onboarding processes for both commercial staff and customers to enhance Customer Lifetime Value (CLV).
  • Act as the primary subject matter expert for learning technologies, including AI tools (e.g., Synthesia, Gong) and Learning Management System (LMS) platforms, continuously evaluating and optimizing the training technology stack.
  • Utilize AI tools to develop scalable, multilingual customer training modules and videos, thereby reducing the need for additional support resources.
  • Promote the adoption of data analytics and blended learning strategies to improve program reach, engagement, and overall effectiveness.
  • Manage the global Learning Management System (LMS) to accurately track course completions and certifications.
  • Provide management and mentorship to staff responsible for training delivery.
  • Collaborate with commercial business leaders across various functions to identify training needs and offer expert guidance on training design and delivery.
  • Coach other trainers, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and leaders on effective delivery techniques, modern learning objectives, and innovative training formats.
  • Direct the training strategy for Go-To-Market (GTM) initiatives and New Product Introductions (NPIs).
  • Manage external consultants, vendors, and facilitators to ensure the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective training programs.
  • Ensure all learning programs adhere to relevant regulatory compliance standards (e.g., FDA, MDR, ISO), maintaining accurate records and audit readiness.
  • Develop programs that are designed for global scalability, accommodating diverse regions, languages, and cultural nuances to support a worldwide workforce.
  • Manage the commercial global L&D budget, ensuring a strong Return on Investment (ROI) for all expenditures.
