The position also focuses on identifying new opportunities that can support future growth in a fast-changing healthcare environment.
You will partner closely with senior leaders and other stakeholders to help shape and execute the organization’s mission, long-term direction, and strategic priorities. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines strategy development, analytical work, stakeholder engagement, and mentoring of junior team members within a small, high-performing group.
Key responsibilities
- Partner with senior leadership to build and sharpen enterprise-wide strategy plans that stay aligned with Mount Sinai’s mission, values, and business goals across clinical, research, and education functions.
- Own selected strategic workstreams tied to enterprise priorities and ensure the results contribute to the wider system strategy.
- Bring together teams across finance, clinical operations, research, education, and other functions to surface, assess, and advance new opportunities, market shifts, and strategic partnerships.
- Perform analytical work such as environmental reviews, market studies, competitor assessments, and scenario planning to support strategy decisions.
- Encourage the use of market intelligence, data analysis, demand forecasting, and scenario modeling in planning efforts.
- Turn complex findings into concise, persuasive executive summaries and recommendations.
- Present strategic proposals to senior leaders and support decisions on major multi-year investments.
- Work with relevant stakeholders to convert strategic priorities into practical initiatives with measurable performance indicators.
Qualifications and experience
- A bachelor’s degree is required.
- A master’s degree is strongly preferred, especially in MBA, MHA, MPH, or a related field.
- At least 10 years of professional experience, primarily in enterprise strategy, strategic planning, or a closely related area within large and complex healthcare organizations or academic medical centers.
- Proven experience leading market assessments, competitive analysis, and healthcare business case development.
- Background working in or alongside academic health systems is preferred.
- Strong analytical ability, financial acumen, and problem-solving capability, with experience in market evaluation and evidence-based decision-making.
- Experience analyzing the New York metro market is a plus.
- Knowledge of healthcare data is preferred.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, along with strong stakeholder management ability.
- Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and build trusted relationships with senior executives, faculty leaders, and external partners.
