Senior Director, Commercial Finance & Performance Management

About the Role

Finning Canada is seeking a Permanent, Full-time Senior Director, Commercial Finance & Performance Management (CFPM), primarily based in Edmonton or Calgary. This role is a cornerstone of the company’s financial leadership, overseeing a business with approximately $6 billion in annual revenue. Reporting to the Vice President of Finance & Supply Chain, you will play an instrumental part in steering profitable growth, optimizing capital allocation, and bolstering commercial governance across the organization. You will lead the Commercial & Financial Business Partnering team and act as a strategic financial advisor to both senior and executive leadership, transforming corporate initiatives into meaningful financial outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide executive-level financial guidance and shape commercial strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
• Direct the company’s commercial governance over a multibillion-dollar revenue base and ensure the alignment of strategic plans between Finning and Caterpillar.
• Monitor, analyze, and enhance financial performance, identifying and addressing gaps while balancing operational and corporate priorities.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and the development of long-range financial plans to ensure data-driven decisions and robust reporting for leadership.
• Lead large tender governance, major business case approvals, and post-investment analyses to enforce fiscal discipline.
• Foster a high-performance finance team through effective leadership, talent management, and succession planning.
• Act as a primary liaison with Caterpillar and external stakeholders, representing Finning at top-tier meetings.

Qualifications & Experience

• At least 10 years of experience in industry and in leadership roles, with a progressive background in accounting or finance within similar sectors or public practice.
• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related discipline, ideally with an accounting designation or advanced degree.
• Significant experience in implementing and optimizing financial systems (e.g., BPC, SAP, Hyperion, M3, Peoplesoft, Power BI, Concur).
• Depth of knowledge in dealership business models, end-to-end supply chain, and related industries.
• Applicants with change management certification (such as PROSCI or Lean Change Agent) are preferred.
