Overview

This role involves leading a global Accounting function within a rapidly expanding, technology-centric organization based in Australia. As Senior Director, you will oversee all accounting operations, including financial reporting, internal controls, policies, and ensuring operational excellence across various international regions. You will be a strategic partner within the Finance leadership team, combining deep technical accounting knowledge with a drive for automation and scalable process transformation using AI-driven tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the global end-to-end accounting processes such as month-end close, financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls.
  • Maintain accurate, timely financial reports adhering to relevant accounting standards while ensuring preparedness for audits.
  • Develop and expand a global operating model encompassing personnel, procedures, systems, payroll, and treasury functions across multiple entities.
  • Provide expert guidance on complex accounting areas including revenue, commissions, equity, payroll, intercompany dealings, foreign exchange, and policy interpretation.
  • Collaborate with commercial and operational teams to devise accounting solutions that balance business expansion and risk management.
  • Recruit, mentor, and support a geographically distributed, high-performing accounting team fostering responsibility and growth opportunities.
  • Lead finance transformation efforts by identifying automation potentials and implementing AI-enabled solutions to streamline workflows for enhanced efficiency and scalability.
  • Strengthen control frameworks, focusing on SOX readiness and support strategic corporate initiatives such as fundraising, mergers, acquisitions, and IPO preparation.
  • Oversee external partnerships with auditors, tax consultants, payroll service providers, and strategic allies.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 6 years managing Accounting, Controlling, or Finance operations within complex, multi-entity, global organizations.
  • Extensive technical accounting background including revenue recognition, commissions, equity, payroll, intercompany frameworks, and financial policies.
  • Experience working in high-growth technology, SaaS, or software companies with recurring revenue streams.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to provide both strategic direction and hands-on technical expertise.
  • Successful track record of building and leading high-performing teams in remote or distributed setups.
  • Professional accounting certification such as CPA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with IFRS, audits, fundraising processes, M&A activity, or IPO preparations is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of global payroll and treasury operations across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Keen interest and experience in leveraging automation, AI, and finance technology to refine workflows and systems.
  • Preferred experience with ERP solutions like NetSuite, demonstrating strong system comprehension and adaptability.
  • Proactive problem-solver capable of managing ambiguity, balancing risks, and acting as a strategic partner to the business.
  • Experience collaborating in globally distributed environments, with flexibility to engage early in the US Eastern Time zone and comfortable using asynchronous communication.
