Role Overview
The Senior Designer position is an opportunity to help define and enhance the company’s brand across print, digital, and internal communications. Working closely with the Creative Director, the role involves creating engaging designs and storytelling that resonate with employees, clients, and communities. This role suits a creative individual who values variety, enjoys collaboration, and aims to produce impactful work with visible organizational influence.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and produce the monthly internal employee e-newsletter, collaborating with the Creative Director on content and layout.
- Create social media graphics and posts for platforms such as Instagram, LinkedIn, and others.
- Develop print materials including business cards, signage, and other ad hoc projects.
- Contribute to copywriting for newsletters, social media content, and web pages, working with the team and using AI tools to draft and refine content.
- Build and update pages on the company's Squarespace website, utilizing HTML and CMS-based web design skills; familiarity with Webflow is a plus.
- Photograph employees for newsletters, social media, and web content, conducting light interviews to collect quotes and context.
- Edit photographs for multi-platform use and perform video editing for short-form content when possible.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 5 years of professional design experience covering both print and digital media.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere Pro) and Figma.
- Up-to-date understanding of design trends and social media best practices.
- Comfortable with writing and editing copy for newsletters, social platforms, and websites.
- Experience photographing employees and conducting brief interviews to gather relevant content.
- Working knowledge of HTML and experience with CMS platforms, including Squarespace (required) and Webflow (preferred).
- A strong design portfolio demonstrating a wide range across print, digital, and social media.
Preferred Skills
- Experience designing internal communications or employee-facing materials.
- Video editing capabilities.
- Interest in or experience integrating AI tools into the design process.
- Experience in construction, engineering, or other industrial B2B sectors.
Success Metrics
- Lead the production of the monthly employee newsletter from concept to delivery.
- Create and maintain a consistent and contemporary visual identity on Instagram and LinkedIn.
- Independently manage the development and upkeep of new Squarespace website pages.
- Serve as the primary resource for print and ad hoc design requests, requiring minimal supervision.
- Establish a regular workflow of employee photography and storytelling to support newsletter and social media content.
