The Senior Demand Planner, Performance will be based in Ogden, UT or NYC and reports to the Director of Planning. This role involves owning and developing a strong demand forecast for North America, balancing commercial objectives with inventory and financial metrics. It requires collaboration across sales, merchandising, and global planning to create a unified demand plan to support business growth and manage risk.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the complete demand planning process at the detailed levels of model, color, size, and monthly timing.
  • Create and maintain a forecast consensus that aligns with inventory and service goals as well as commercial strategies.
  • Convert forecasts into actionable data for buying and supply planning purposes.
  • Critically assess market forecasts to ensure alignment between growth ambitions and inventory risks.
  • Handle complex product categories, including new launches and fluctuating demand patterns.
  • Monitor category performance against inventory levels, productivity, and service-related KPIs.
  • Evaluate inventory health, turnover rates, and sell-through proactively to identify risks or opportunities.
  • Apply inventory productivity frameworks to guide demand and purchasing decisions.
  • Collaborate with merchandising teams on assortment productivity and product lifecycle management.
  • Lead and participate in demand consensus forums with data-supported recommendations.
  • Align cross-functional teams from sales, merchandising, marketing, finance, and supply chain for a unified demand plan.
  • Serve as the main liaison between market teams and global planning.
  • Influence decision making to reconcile demand plans with supply capabilities and financial objectives.
  • Engage in sales order booking processes and key planning reviews.
  • Lead market interaction with global planning teams to coordinate timely purchasing and provide market insights.
  • Work on capacity constraint solutions and mitigation strategies collaboratively.
  • Organize buy cadence and promote informed market buying decisions.
  • Mentor junior staff and new hires to build demand planning skills and process knowledge.
  • Drive process improvements to boost forecast accuracy and planning efficiency.
  • Support development and adoption of planning tools, reporting, and frameworks.

Qualifications

  • Five to eight or more years of experience in demand, merchandise, or supply chain planning.
  • Previous experience within lifestyle, outdoor, or athletic industries (softgoods focus preferred); merchandising experience is helpful but not mandatory.
  • Strong analytical skills for converting data into strategic and operational actions.
  • Proficient in advanced Excel functions; familiarity with planning software is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in apparel, footwear, outdoor, or similar consumer goods industries is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders across departments.
  • Experience working in global or matrixed organizations is a bonus.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 20% of the time.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

The role requires regular travel and communication activities, with physical demands such as sitting, standing, walking, occasional bending, kneeling, twisting, and lifting up to 30 pounds with accommodations possible. Visual acuity including color vision and focus adjustment is needed. The noise level varies from moderate to loud with potential light flashes.
