Senior Data Analyst - Hybrid Contract in Toronto, ON

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Data Analyst based in Toronto, ON, for a 15-week hybrid contract role with the potential for extension. The candidate will work onsite one day per week (Monday) and remotely for the rest of the week. This role involves supporting system parallel testing, analyzing, and validating data between legacy and new systems to ensure accuracy and consistency.

Key Responsibilities

• Support parallel testing activities between the existing and new system implementations.
• Analyze and verify data consistency, completeness, and precision across both systems.
• Investigate and resolve issues involving data discrepancies, connection faults, and gaps in reporting.
• Review system mapping documentation, convert logic into SQL queries, and use these queries to assess data relationships and identify root causes of any problems.
• Execute queries using database query tools to track data lineage and validate output results.
• Document findings comprehensively, escalate critical issues, and collaborate with upstream project teams to facilitate problem resolution.
• Participate in regular discussions to share insights about data irregularities and system behavior changes.
• No responsibility for report distribution; focus is strictly on detailed data analytics.

Requirements and Skills

• Minimum 8 years of extensive experience with SQL, including proficiency in window functions.
• Familiarity with User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Acceptance Test Logic (ATL) mapping is essential.
• Demonstrated general experience in reporting and data analysis.

Additional Information

The project is at a critical stage of transitioning from an old legacy system to a new live system. This involves identifying unforeseen issues or broken connections, often caused by prior implementation decisions made without feedback from the current team. The analyst will play a key role in troubleshooting and ensuring readiness for reporting transition.
