Role overview

This position is an interview-based opening for a senior courier who will operate company vehicles and handle package delivery and pickup in a floating coverage role. The assignment covers open routes as needed rather than a fixed daily route, with support across at least 15 routes.

The role also includes setting an example for hourly team members by mentoring others and demonstrating strong communication, leadership, and conflict-handling skills using best-practice methods. In addition, the position is expected to help drive sales and identify opportunities for additional revenue where possible.

Responsibilities

• Drive company vehicles to complete package deliveries and pickups efficiently.
• Provide floating coverage across a minimum of 15 routes instead of working a permanently assigned route.
• Cover open routes when the regular courier is unavailable.
• Serve as a mentor and role model for hourly employees.
• Use effective communication, leadership, and conflict resolution in day-to-day work.
• Look for opportunities to support sales and generate incremental revenue.
• Meet all required training, testing, and annual recertification standards.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least six months of previous courier experience.
• Valid driver’s licence with a clean or strong driving record.
• Ability to complete and maintain DG certification and any recurring training.
• Capability to obtain and keep FedEx DG Specialist certification, where required.
• Working knowledge of company products, service features, and general operations.
• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and move packages weighing up to 150 lbs using appropriate equipment.
• Basic knowledge of Federal Express operations and Canadian customs rules is an advantage.
• In Quebec, bilingual ability in French and English is required.
• Strong customer service, interpersonal, analytical, prioritization, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a Windows PC environment and adapt to varying shifts based on business needs.
• For driving-focused roles, a valid licence such as Class 5, G, or 1[AZ] and no more than two violations and/or accidents in the 24 months before application may be required.

Additional information

This role is expected to fill a coverage function rather than operate on a regularly assigned route. DG specialist requirements depend on station size and location, and senior management may override those requirements where needed.

Candidates must be able to complete mandatory testing, maintain annual accreditations where applicable, and meet all required recurrence training deadlines.
