Overview
This role is offered by a partner company seeking a Senior Counsel specialized in Employment Products based in Ireland. The position focuses on influencing the future of global employment by providing strategic legal support within a technology-driven workforce platform, shaping how companies manage hiring and talent worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and manage employment-related templates, policies, processes, and legal frameworks across various jurisdictions to ensure scalable and compliant solutions.
- Keep abreast of global employment laws and regulations, evaluate their impact on the business, and lead necessary implementations of updates.
- Provide strategic legal counsel throughout the employee lifecycle including recruitment, compensation, leaves, performance, employee relations, and termination.
- Collaborate closely with Product, People, and cross-functional teams to design employment solutions that meet legal, operational, and commercial needs.
- Support the growth and development of employment-related products by ensuring new features are legally compliant and scalable.
- Conduct comprehensive research into complex employment law issues and present actionable recommendations to business and non-legal stakeholders.
- Create and maintain legal resources, guidance, compliance documentation, and operational materials for global teams.
- Manage external legal advisor relationships and provide support during labor inspections, audits, regulatory inquiries, and compliance efforts.
- Identify risks and areas for improvement by analyzing data, stakeholder input, and operational metrics to enhance compliance frameworks.
- Utilize AI, automation, and other technology solutions to refine legal workflows, reduce manual efforts, and scale legal support functions.
- Foster a collaborative, remote-first culture within the legal team aimed at continuous improvement and innovation.
Qualifications
- Law degree or equivalent qualification with admission to practice law in at least one jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 4 years' experience practicing employment law, with a mix of law firm and in-house environments preferred.
- Expertise in drafting and reviewing employment contracts, managing policies/templates, and advising on complex employment issues.
- Experience in handling multi-jurisdictional and cross-border employment matters under varied legal systems.
- Knowledge of Employer of Record (EOR) frameworks and their legal considerations is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical abilities with capacity to translate complex legal information into clear, pragmatic advice for diverse audiences.
- Excellent research, organizational, communication skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced global setting.
- Business-minded approach balancing compliance with operational efficiency and innovative problem-solving.
- Comfortable leveraging technology, AI tools, and automation to improve legal processes.
- Fluency in English, both written and oral.
- Positive, cooperative temperament with eagerness to support team members and contribute beyond standard duties.
