Role Overview
The Senior Cost Manager role focuses on providing expert cost advisory services for data centre projects at all design and construction phases. This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of challenging projects, contribute innovative solutions, influence Ireland's built environment, and grow professionally in a supportive team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze, interpret, and develop comprehensive cost estimates and plans for data centre projects through all design and construction stages.
- Advise on procurement, steer tender procedures, evaluate contractor bids, and produce recommendation reports.
- Lead client account management for data centre programmes by participating in key stakeholder meetings and offering commercial and strategic guidance.
- Review contracts and aid negotiations with contractors and significant suppliers.
- Assess change orders and contractor pricing to maintain strict commercial oversight in dynamic project settings.
- Oversee contract administration including processing payment applications, variations, and financial reports during construction.
- Develop and examine project plans, fee proposals, and resource allocation strategies.
- Assist senior leadership with client reporting, performance analysis, and commercial insights across multiple live assignments.
- Provide ongoing cost management services such as value engineering and cashflow forecasting.
Candidate Requirements
- Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, Construction, Engineering, or related discipline.
- At least 6 years’ experience in cost consultancy or quantity surveying, preferably with involvement in data centre or mission-critical projects.
- Membership or candidacy in professional bodies such as MRICS or AssocRICS.
- Solid grasp of construction methods, procurement strategies, and common contract forms like RIAI or GCCC.
- Working knowledge of construction law, contracts, and project delivery methodologies.
- Strong commercial insight with experience managing large-scale or complex projects, especially in data centre environments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating effectiveness in client relationship development.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in fast-moving contexts.
