Job description

Role overview

This position supports payroll and HR operations across Latin America and the Caribbean, making sure payroll, employee lifecycle actions, and related control steps are completed accurately, on time, and in line with local requirements. The role partners with HR Services, Regional HR, Finance, vendors, and other teams to keep processes running smoothly across a complex multinational setup.

The successful candidate will handle defined operational tasks, verify data and outputs, support banking and statutory processes, keep documentation and controls current, and help resolve routine payroll and HR service issues. This role also contributes to continuity and transition readiness by maintaining trackers, SOPs, checklists, and other working documents. Because the role may be performed remotely, the employee must be able to maintain a reliable high-speed internet connection and a safe home working environment.

Payroll operations

  • Carry out end-to-end payroll tasks for assigned countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, following documented steps, payroll timelines, and local compliance rules.
  • Check payroll inputs and outputs, spot mismatches, and work with internal teams and outside payroll providers to resolve issues quickly.
  • Support payroll activities involving employee data, attendance and time information, variable earnings, deductions, retroactive updates, terminations, corrections, and off-cycle payments.
  • Complete pre-payroll and post-payroll validations to confirm data completeness, interface accuracy, payroll readiness, and follow-up on issues.
  • Support payroll general ledger posting and basic reconciliations in coordination with Finance.
  • Assist with payroll banking steps, including payment file handling, confirmations, tracking, and escalation of exceptions.

HR operations and employee lifecycle support

  • Keep employee master data current and process HR transactions in line with standards for accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance.
  • Support employee lifecycle activities such as onboarding, offboarding, job changes, organizational updates, and other personnel movements across the countries in scope.
  • Help coordinate payroll- and HR-related benefits administration, including registrations, transfers, invoice checks, and payroll alignment where applicable by country and vendor model.
  • Ensure supporting records are complete, accurate, and retained according to process and audit needs.

Employee support and case handling

  • Answer employee questions about payroll, HR processes, and benefits with accuracy, speed, and proper documentation.
  • Monitor cases, queries, and defects through to closure, making sure follow-up happens within service targets.
  • Escalate sensitive, complex, or country-specific matters through the correct support channels.

Compliance, controls, and documentation

  • Maintain SOPs, checklists, trackers, calendars, logs, and other tools that support consistent service delivery.
  • Help strengthen payroll controls by documenting validations, reconciliations, and evidence retention steps throughout the payroll cycle.
  • Track changes to local labor rules, payroll practices, tax and social contribution processes, and statutory deadlines, and escalate updates for review when needed.
  • Maintain audit-ready payroll records such as process flows, approvals, reconciliations, status trackers, and issue logs.
  • Look for ways to improve accuracy, reduce rework, strengthen controls, and simplify standard work.

Vendor and third-party coordination

  • Coordinate daily operational work with payroll vendors and other third-party providers supporting the countries in scope.
  • Track deliverables, open items, and follow-ups with vendors so payroll and related tasks stay on schedule.
  • Review vendor reports, files, and supporting documents for completeness and operational accuracy before internal use or approval.
  • Support transition and knowledge-transfer work by inventorying files, documents, reports, templates, access requirements, and process dependencies.

Statutory, reporting, and year-end support

  • Assist with tax and social contribution activities, including report review, payment coordination, filing support, evidence retention, and vendor or authority follow-up as needed.
  • Help with post-payroll reporting, variance checks, reconciliations, and secure sharing of payroll outputs with internal stakeholders.
  • Support year-end payroll tasks such as tax declarations, reporting, and payroll calendar preparation, depending on the country and vendor model.
  • Track country-specific practices, special validations, mandatory fields, and local dependencies that affect payroll readiness and compliance.

Minimum qualifications

  • Authorization to work and live in Jamaica at the time of application is required; sponsorship is not provided.
  • At least 2 years of experience in payroll, HR operations, or shared services, preferably supporting Latin America and/or Caribbean countries.
  • Ability to travel to the United States and other countries as needed for training and business meetings.
  • Background supporting payroll and HR processes in a multinational, regional, or shared-services environment.
  • Working understanding of payroll operations, employee data management, and compliance-sensitive HR processes.
  • Experience with external payroll providers such as ADP, Neeyamo, ADP Celergo, or similar platforms and service models.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of payroll controls, reconciliations, reporting, and payroll-related banking processes.
  • Strong coordination and communication abilities across HR, Finance, vendors, and other internal partners.
  • Strong attention to detail, good organization, and the ability to manage recurring tasks within deadlines and controls.
  • Committed to safety, security, and protection of personal data.
  • Works well with diverse people, ideas, and working styles.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.

  • Business-level Spanish and/or Portuguese is an advantage.
  • Experience in the airline industry is strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting multiple countries with different payroll calendars, statutory rules, and service models.
  • Experience maintaining payroll documentation, SOPs, checklists, control logs, and audit support materials.
  • Experience coordinating vendor deliverables, issue tracking, and operational follow-up across payroll and HR processes.
  • Experience improving templates, trackers, standard work, or process documentation to increase consistency and reduce errors.
  • Familiarity with year-end payroll activities, statutory reporting, or transition-related documentation and knowledge transfer.
