About the Role
This permanent, full-time position is based in Wellington, New Zealand. We are seeking an experienced Contracts Manager who is passionate about nurturing strong supplier partnerships and driving successful contract outcomes. The Senior Contracts Manager will work closely with the Contract Management team within Te Poutāhū and collaborate with the Ministry's Commercial and Procurement team to align all commercial and contract activities with strategic goals, policies, and frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage contracts that present low to medium risk, ensuring they comply with Ministry policies and governance, as well as financial management standards.
- Actively support Supplier Relationship Management goals and cultivate productive relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.
- Monitor contract performance, timelines, and budgets to ensure they meet the Ministry's expectations.
- Work collaboratively with suppliers and internal departments to address and resolve contractual issues, escalating complex matters when needed.
- Lead contract reviews, negotiations, and ensure clarity and adherence to contract terms by all parties.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior members of the contract management team.
Candidate Profile
- Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and tackle complex issues.
- Expertise in assessing and mitigating risks related to contract management.
- Confident in handling and negotiating commercial contracts.
- Proven ability to build and maintain positive supplier relationships for optimal outcomes.
- Experience in leading and mentoring junior staff members.
- Commitment to uphold the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
Organisational Context
Te Poutāhū’s mission is to lead and manage the national curricula and related assessment systems for Aotearoa New Zealand. The team designs and delivers curriculum services for educators, leaders, learners, their families, and communities that reflect diverse identities, languages, and cultures. The focus is on inclusive education, particularly across te reo Māori, mātauranga Māori, disability, and culturally relevant content. Te Mahau connects with the education sector to collaboratively identify priorities and create local solutions that support inclusive learning for all ākonga.
Additional Details
Salary range for this role is between $100,296 and $121,490 per annum, plus KiwiSaver contributions. The final salary will reflect the selected candidate's skills and experience.
