Role Overview

The position focuses on leading the digital manufacturing of jewelry by managing all aspects of the CNC machining process, including original design creation, multi-axis programming, tooling decisions, and production quality. This role demands creativity, technical expertise, and independent judgment to optimize manufacturing workflows and quality standards. As the CNC department evolves, opportunities exist to lead, set standards, and mentor new technicians.

Key Responsibilities

• Design original 2D jewelry concepts and lead their development for CNC fabrication.
• Utilize Rhino, AutoCAD, and Matrix Gold software to prepare designs ready for machining processes.
• Program and operate simultaneous 5-axis and multi-axis CNC machines specialized for jewelry production.
• Determine optimal cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and machining techniques to enhance surface finishes and efficiency.
• Edit and customize G-code and manage post-processor adjustments.
• Organize and maintain tooling inventories suitable for diverse jobs and materials.
• Incorporate casted models seamlessly into CNC workflows.
• Collaborate with production teams to realize new jewelry collections.

Qualifications and Experience

• Demonstrated experience in CNC operations, preferably within jewelry or precision manufacturing sectors.
• Proficient programming and hands-on operation of simultaneous 5-axis and multi-axis CNC machinery.
• Expertise in 2D design creation, not limited to executing preset designs.
• Deep understanding of cutting tool dynamics, tool degradation, and finishing techniques.
• Skills in G-code generation, editing, and post-processor customization.
• Comprehensive knowledge spanning design, tooling, casted parts integration, and CNC programming from 3D files.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with 3D jewelry design.
• Track record of implementing new CNC technologies or methods to improve production.
