About the Team
The Groceries team at Careem is revolutionizing everyday essentials shopping by delivering a swift, dependable, and seamless quick-commerce service. Within this dynamic environment, the Senior Category Management function plays a crucial role in curating optimal product assortments, pricing models, and promotional activities that both delight customers and drive growth.
Role Overview
The Senior Category Management Executive will assist the grocery category team in various aspects such as assortment curation, supplier sourcing, pricing strategies, and promotional planning. This position suits individuals passionate about grocery retail, detail-oriented, and eager to enhance their expertise in category management and commercial operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Category Manager in implementing strategies aligned with broader business objectives.
- Participate in sourcing new products and maintain product assortment within the grocery category.
- Manage communication with suppliers to obtain product specifications, pricing, and promotional details.
- Monitor category performance indicators including sales figures, pricing trends, and stock levels; identify risks and opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to plan and execute weekly and monthly promotional campaigns.
- Ensure product listings, including content and images on the app, are accurate and timely by coordinating with the content team.
- Work closely with supply chain teams to guarantee product availability, facilitate onboarding of new SKUs, and manage replenishment.
- Conduct market research to spot trends, new product opportunities, and competitive pricing benchmarks.
- Build and sustain strong supplier relationships and assist in preparing for business reviews.
Candidate Qualifications
- 4 to 5 years’ experience in retail or quick commerce/e-commerce sectors.
- Comprehensive understanding of the UAE market including supplier dynamics, seasonal variations, and quality standards.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and commercial acumen.
- Keen attention to detail combined with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets; familiarity with data reporting tools is advantageous.
- Strong analytical skills with insight into commercial KPIs and category performance analysis.
- Passionate about grocery retail and committed to a career in category management.
- Proactive learner capable of thriving in a fast-moving, dynamic workplace.
