Job description
Role overview
Ignite Travel Group is hiring a Senior Business Analyst for its Broadbeach, Queensland office. This position sits within the engineering team and focuses on defining business needs for a new travel booking platform while also supporting the backlog of the existing back-office system. The role is suited to someone who can work closely with stakeholders, convert business goals into clear delivery requirements, and help guide implementation from analysis through to validation.
The business is a recognised travel brand with awards including NTIA Most Outstanding Online Travel Agency 2022, and it operates at large scale within Australia’s travel advertising and booking landscape. The team is adopting AI-assisted delivery practices, so confidence using AI tools for analysis, specification, and validation is an important part of how this role works day to day.
What you will do
- Collect, clarify, and record business needs, then turn them into user stories and acceptance criteria for an agile delivery team.
- Create use cases and process maps that help shape software development.
- Use AI-enabled tools to speed up requirements gathering and produce structured specifications.
- Own and continuously refine the product backlog across both the current back-office platform and the new travel booking platform, keeping priorities aligned with business value.
- Interview stakeholders to uncover business requirements and identify pain points.
- Work with business partners to make sure initiatives stay aligned with broader objectives.
- Act as a bridge between technical teams and business users to keep communication clear and effective.
- Support user acceptance testing and confirm that delivered solutions satisfy the agreed requirements.
- Prepare and maintain system guides and training documentation.
- Provide leadership across project teams to help ensure customer expectations and requirements are delivered successfully.
What we’re looking for
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar business analyst position.
- Proven strength in requirements elicitation and documentation, process analysis, and organisational strategy.
- Comfort and experience working with AI-assisted analysis and specification methods.
- A curious, adaptable mindset and willingness to keep learning new tools and working practices.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and business judgement.
- Experience in business process re-engineering and continuous improvement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, along with strong facilitation skills.
- Ability to run virtual workshops and meetings.
- High-quality documentation skills, covering both technical and non-technical material.
- Strong attention to detail, planning, organisation, and time management.
- Good knowledge of the travel industry or another internet-scale environment is preferred, and retail industry experience is also valuable.
- Formal Business Analyst qualifications are highly desirable.
- Experience with spec-driven development approaches is highly regarded.
- Exposure to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is highly regarded.
- UI/UX experience is highly regarded.
