Role Overview

Our federal government client is seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst for a contract initially lasting 11 months with potential extension up to 36 months. The work location is Canberra, with hybrid working arrangements, although the role is primarily remote. Candidates must hold a Baseline Security Clearance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain strong, trusted relationships with both business and technical teams.
  • Lead workshops and stakeholder engagement sessions to capture business needs and ensure priorities are aligned.
  • Gather, analyze, and document detailed business requirements, processes, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Proactively identify risks, issues, dependencies, and opportunities to advance project activities, collaborating with stakeholders to resolve challenges.
  • Contribute to planning efforts including backlog management, business case creation, roadmap development, and delivery scheduling.
  • Provide clear progress updates, risk assessments, insights, and recommendations to inform decision-making.
  • Manage multiple initiatives simultaneously with a consistent focus on delivering results.
  • Promote a collaborative, positive, and high-performance team environment.

Candidate Profile

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, adept at engaging stakeholders across all organizational levels.
  • Proven ability to foster relationships and align diverse stakeholder groups towards common goals.
  • Demonstrates initiative, accountability, and drive to achieve outcomes without requiring close supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and capacity to juggle competing priorities.
  • Experienced in eliciting and documenting business requirements and translating these to actionable project outcomes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies, and tools such as Azure DevOps or equivalents.
  • Adopts a pragmatic and collaborative approach that supports team success and positive culture.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Background in data, reporting, analytics, or information management projects.
  • Experience collaborating closely with developers on technical requirements.
  • Exposure to systems such as Dynamics 365, APIs, integrations, or overall system architecture.
  • Experience supporting strategic planning, business case development, and delivery roadmap creation.
  • Understanding of data governance, data quality, and business intelligence principles.
  • Previous experience working within government or large, complex organizations.

Additional Information

The position requires a current Baseline Security Clearance. The initial contract is for 11 months remote work with extension potential up to 36 months based in Canberra with hybrid working. The role involves multitasking across projects and driving outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
