Role overview
This is a full-time, on-site finance role based in Bondi Junction. The Senior Bookkeeper / Management Accountant will be responsible for keeping the company’s financial records accurate and up to date, including journal preparation and review, account reconciliations, and maintenance of the general ledger. The role also involves preparing financial statements and management reports on time, tracking cash flow, and assisting with budgeting and forecasting.
Core duties
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities and keep financial records current and reliable.
- Prepare, check, and post journal entries as required.
- Reconcile accounts and maintain an accurate general ledger.
- Produce financial statements and management reporting within required timelines.
- Monitor cash flow and contribute to forecasting and budgeting work.
- Ensure accounting activities remain aligned with applicable standards and compliance requirements.
- Work with internal stakeholders to analyse financial information and support decision-making.
- Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency.
- Provide operational teams with practical, data-based financial insights.
Candidate profile
The ideal applicant will bring at least 5 years of experience in bookkeeping, management accounting, or finance roles within an SME environment. Advanced Xero expertise is essential, and Xero certification would be an advantage. Experience using Cin7 or a similar inventory/accounting platform is also highly regarded. A strong grasp of profit and loss statements, balance sheets, accruals, journal entries, and cash flow forecasting is important, along with advanced Excel capability and the ability to work across multiple systems.
Success in this role also requires excellent attention to detail, a proactive approach to solving problems, and the ability to take ownership so that deadlines and details are not missed. The work environment is fast-moving and operational in nature, so comfort in that setting is important. Experience in logistics, eCommerce, wholesale, or other inventory-led businesses would be a strong advantage.
