Role and Responsibilities
- Join the India and South Asia legal team delivering legal guidance for domestic and regional business operations as well as global delivery objectives.
- Provide legal counsel primarily supporting IBM's Consulting and Technology Business Units, negotiating and advising on commercial contracts with government and private sector clients.
- Offer legal support to business and administrative functions including procurement, security, transport, real estate, HR, and finance concerning compliance, disputes, litigation, intellectual property, workplace relations, privacy, and cybersecurity matters.
- Ensure adherence to IBM's internal policies and procedures fostering regulatory compliance.
Educational and Professional Requirements
- Must hold a Bachelor's degree and be legally qualified to practice law in India.
- Possess nine or more years of legal experience across in-house roles or law firm engagements.
- Proven expertise in negotiating IT-related contracts for services, software, and cloud solutions involving government and commercial sectors.
- Skilled in advising on privacy, cybersecurity, intellectual property rights, and regulatory compliance challenges.
- Capable of working independently, gaining reduced supervision with increased familiarity with IBM’s operations.
- Knowledgeable about Indian government procurement rules and procedures.
- Demonstrates initiative to enhance legal and business processes, with a strong emphasis on integrity and ethical standards.
Preferred Experience
- Experience handling disputes and litigation matters within India.
- Background in the Information Technology sector.
- Previous in-house legal experience at a multinational corporation is advantageous.
Experience Level
Between nine to fifteen years of relevant legal experience is required.
