Role overview

This position is for a senior apparel designer focused on ethnic Indian wear and western wear for export-oriented fashion brands. The role involves building fresh collections, translating market and trend insights into wearable concepts, and managing the design process through to final approval.

Key responsibilities

• Create new apparel collections for ethnic Indian and western fashion lines.
• Track current market movements and gather inspiration relevant to export brands.
• Develop styles from initial sketches through fittings and final sign-off.
• Handle the overall design process and ensure all aspects are well coordinated.
• Prepare the showroom for buyer meetings and presentations.
• Study seasonal themes and convert them into design direction.
• Present design updates and plans on a weekly basis.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of experience in apparel design. Strong skills in Photoshop and Illustrator are required, along with excellent sketching and presentation abilities. A good command of spoken and written English is also important.

Education

A B.Des. degree in Textile Design, Product Design, or Graphic Design is preferred.
