Role overview
Book of the Month is hiring a Senior Analyst, Finance and Operations to support the team that manages the company’s financial and operational work. This group handles reporting, planning, analysis, accounting, treasury, and also contributes to operational planning such as forecasting demand and planning inventory.
In this position, you will partner with teams across the business to keep forecasts current, accurate, and useful for decision-making throughout the organization.
What you’ll be doing
- Partner with cross-functional teams to anticipate and plan inventory and demand needs for memberships, books, paper, non-book inventory, and new product introductions.
- Maintain and refresh financial forecasts, including the assumptions behind the company’s broader financial models.
- Work with the Controller and Manager, FP&A to support the monthly close and update month-end financial reporting.
- Track and adjust the daily demand forecast across multiple monthly cycles to help balance stock, limit excess inventory, guide labor planning, and meet service level targets.
- Support the SVP and Manager, FP&A with research, modeling, and analysis tied to corporate and business development opportunities.
- Provide analytical support for ad hoc projects across the organization.
What we’re looking for
- 1 to 3 years of experience in finance, accounting, financial planning, investment banking, consulting, data, analytics, or another quantitative problem-solving role.
- A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, operations, data, or mathematics is strongly preferred.
- Strong ability to read, interpret, and analyze data.
- A proactive, organized, and resourceful mindset, with comfort in a fast-moving environment and strong attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, plus the ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic team setting.
- Interest in commercial fiction and/or ecommerce.
- Strong technical aptitude.
- Advanced use of Excel and/or Google Sheets is required.
- Experience creating reports and dashboards in a business intelligence tool is considered a plus.
Compensation
The salary range for this role is $75,000 to $115,000.
