Job description
Position Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Accountant to join our premium wellness, fitness, and food & beverage business in Dubai. This pivotal role involves overseeing the company's comprehensive accounting functions and advancing procurement, inventory control, and cost management efforts during the pre-opening phase and ongoing operations. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in establishing strong financial governance, accurate reporting, and streamlined operational workflows.
Primary Duties
- Oversee the entire accounting cycle including maintenance of general ledger and financial records.
- Compile monthly financial statements and detailed management reports.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes.
- Conduct bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow and budgets.
- Administer payroll processing, WPS compliance, leave provisions, and end-of-service benefits.
- Ensure adherence to UAE VAT laws and coordinate with auditors and external consultants.
- Source, negotiate, and maintain relationships with suppliers.
- Compare supplier quotations, issue purchase orders, and supervise purchasing activities.
- Monitor inventory balances and movements; reconcile supplier invoices against purchase orders.
- Track food costs, inventory variances, and operating expenses while identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and development of internal controls and financial procedures.
- Assist with purchasing and operational setup for the business launch.
- Provide financial analyses and management reports to assist decision making.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of accounting experience within the UAE.
- Comprehensive knowledge of UAE VAT regulations, WPS, payroll systems, and financial reporting standards.
- Proficient in procurement, supplier management, inventory control, and cost management.
- Experience with accounting software such as Zoho Books, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and strong analytical and organizational capabilities.
Preferred Background
- Experience in hospitality sectors including restaurants, cafés, wellness, fitness, or luxury lifestyle businesses.
- Involvement in pre-opening projects is a plus.
- Professional certifications such as ACCA, CPA, CMA, or equivalents are advantageous.
