Reporting to the Controller, the role supports year-end financial statements, board reporting, and strategic financial initiatives, ensuring accuracy in project costing and financing tasks within real estate and development operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly financial reports along with analysis of variances ensuring complete and accurate documentation.
- Assist in year-end accounting processes, preparing working papers, reconciliations, and documentation for leadership and external reviewers.
- Oversee job costing and manage project-related loan and mortgage drawdowns tied to development and housing ventures.
- Monitor and control cash flow to secure sufficient funds for operational and project needs.
- Validate accuracy of essential financial processes like bank reconciliations, GST filings, and cheque runs.
- Maintain detailed construction and project status reports to aid cash forecasting and ensure timeline compliance.
- Support budgeting efforts, including preparing overhead budgets and tracking variances throughout the year.
- Collaborate with the Controller on financing proposals, board reporting, and special projects aligned with strategic goals.
Qualifications and Skills
- Possession of a professional accounting designation.
- At least 5 years of experience in finance and accounting; 3-5 years preferred within real estate, home building, or land development fields.
- Proficient with ERP accounting systems such as Microsoft Dynamics SL, BuildTopia, and Sage 50.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, particularly with complex formulas.
- Solid understanding of ASPE accounting standards and full cycle accounting experience; familiarity with REALPAC is advantageous.
- Highly detail-conscious with strong problem-solving, organizational, and analytical abilities, able to work independently and manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
- Collaborative team player willing to contribute across multiple functional areas as needed.
