A cross-functional team of civil, mechanical, structural, and electrical professionals supports the company’s work, with a strong focus on dependable infrastructure delivery, technical accuracy, and quality standards across the region.
Role Overview
The Senior Accountant will oversee core accounting activities for project-based operations, with responsibility spanning job costing, financial reporting, tax compliance, receivables, payables, cash flow support, and internal controls.
Project and Job Cost Accounting
- Manage the full accounting cycle for projects and operational records.
- Prepare and validate work-in-progress reporting.
- Apply IFRS 15 correctly for revenue recognition.
- Monitor retention amounts due from customers and payable to subcontractors.
- Check subcontractor progress claims and certification documents.
- Track budget performance and explain cost differences.
- Keep transaction files and supporting records complete and organized.
Financial Reporting
- Compile monthly management accounts and statutory-style financial statements.
- Handle month-end and year-end close processes.
- Maintain the general ledger and complete balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare profitability and margin analysis for projects and share insights with management.
Tax and Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure accounting and reporting activities follow Qatar tax rules.
- Prepare and submit corporate income tax filings.
- Manage withholding tax compliance for overseas suppliers and vendors.
- Coordinate with the General Tax Authority when needed.
- Retain proper records for tax reviews, assessments, and audits.
Billing and Receivables
- Track progress billing and issue invoices to clients.
- Review aged receivables and follow up on overdue collections.
- Reconcile customer accounts and manage retention-related balances.
Payables and Cash Flow
- Process invoices from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Check local purchase orders, delivery notes, and payment certificates before processing.
- Prepare payment vouchers and payment schedules for review.
- Execute payments through bank transfer, cheque, or WPS as required.
- Match vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies.
- Support cash flow forecasting and planning.
- Track bank balances, credit facilities, and guarantees.
Internal Controls and Audit
- Follow company policies and control procedures consistently.
- Assist with internal and external audits.
- Help improve accounting workflows and better use of the ERP system.
Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
- Professional accounting credentials such as ACCA, CPA, or CMA are preferred.
- Applicants should bring 5 to 10 years of accounting experience, including at least 3 to 5 years in the construction industry.
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS and construction contract accounting is essential.
- Hands-on exposure to Qatar tax practices is required.
- Prior experience with ERP platforms is needed.
- Advanced Excel capability, including pivot tables and financial modelling, is expected.
- Experience with bank guarantees and performance bonds will be considered an advantage.
