Job description
Position summary
As a Self-Checkout Attendant with Walmart Canada, you will play a key part in creating a smooth and positive shopping experience. This role is centered on helping customers use the self-service checkout area, answering questions, and delivering friendly service while building skills in retail and customer support.
Key responsibilities
- Keep the self-checkout area tidy, organized, and clear of debris, liquids, fixtures, and other items that could affect safety or convenience.
- Show customers how to use self-service tools correctly and efficiently when help is needed.
- Share information about company promotional programs such as credit card services, product protection plans, and charity initiatives where applicable.
- Monitor customer activity and step in when assistance appears necessary.
- When intervention or quality checks are required, explain the reason calmly and politely, and reassure customers that these checks are a normal part of self-checkout procedures.
- Understand how to respond to EAS alarms and complete the Failure to Deactivate log.
- Contact the Customer Service Manager if the self-service area is running low on cash or experiences a technical issue.
- Return Scan & Go scanners to their designated location after use.
Minimum qualifications
The only stated minimum requirement is that applicants must be 16 years of age or older.
Pay and compensation
The starting wage for this role is at least $15.50 per hour.
