This position combines sustainability expertise with a strong business sense to identify new market opportunities, nurture lasting client partnerships, and drive sustainable expansion.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement sector-specific strategies to deliver steady revenue and margin enhancement.
- Secure new business while deepening existing client relationships.
- Collaborate closely with science, advisory, audit, and program teams to provide top-tier climate and sustainability solutions.
- Develop trusted executive connections with clients, partners, and industry leaders, representing the organisation externally.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- More than ten years of senior experience in commercial, business development, client leadership, or sector leadership roles.
- Extensive knowledge of sustainability, climate, or environmental issues within primary industries like manufacturing, food production, forestry, or transport.
- Proven success in generating revenue and business growth.
- Experienced in handling strategic and enterprise-level client relationships.
- Excellent commercial insight including pricing strategies, profitability analyses, and contract negotiation skills.
- Ability to communicate confidently with executives, board members, operational leaders, and sustainability professionals.
- Outstanding stakeholder engagement and leadership abilities.
- Passion for enabling organisations to achieve positive environmental impact alongside commercial success.
Differentiators
- Practical understanding of New Zealand's primary industry commercial environment.
- Credibility founded on hands-on sustainability experience rather than theory alone.
- Established networks in agriculture, food and fibre, manufacturing, or transport sectors.
- Motivation driven by both impact and commercial results.
- Enthusiasm for growth-focused environments and building organisational legacy.
