Job description

Role overview

OneSchool Global’s Gisborne campus is looking for an experienced Commerce Teacher to join a high-performing team, with a mid Term 3 start. This is a full-time, on-site teaching role in a supportive and collaborative environment that places a strong emphasis on innovation, professional growth, and student achievement.

What you will teach

You will deliver a mix of NCEA-level Commerce and, depending on capability and need, Accounting, Business Studies, and/or Economics. Prior teaching experience with the NCEA curriculum is essential, as this school works within the NCEA framework. The ability to also teach Junior Commerce would be an advantage.

Campus environment

The Gisborne campus is described as well resourced and supported by strong collaboration, modern learning tools, and IT assistance. Teaching is delivered both in person and through digital platforms, including Zoom, enabling learning to connect across New Zealand.

Qualifications and experience

  • Active registration with the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand.
  • Proven experience teaching commerce-related subjects at the secondary level.
  • Confidence using innovative approaches that support student achievement.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, along with solid interpersonal ability.
  • Well-developed digital capability and the flexibility to teach through multiple delivery methods.

Why this opportunity stands out

  • Specialist classroom teaching focused on engaging secondary students in commerce.
  • Pay positioned 6–11% above state rates, along with access to EAP support, health insurance, and an employee discount/boost programme.
  • Smaller class sizes that allow for a more focused teaching experience.
  • A blended model combining online delivery and on-campus learning.
  • Reduced pastoral load so more time can be spent on teaching and learning.
  • Modern facilities, current classroom technology, and strong technical support.
  • Ongoing professional development through a teaching academy, plus genuine pathways for leadership and career growth across the network.
