Role overview

We are seeking a Science Community Lead for a partner company based in Germany. The position focuses on growing and supporting a worldwide network of scientists, researchers, and biotech enthusiasts within a decentralized science environment. You will create active spaces for collaboration, conversation, and discovery across Discord and other digital channels.

This role combines community development, science communication, and event facilitation. It is centered on strengthening relationships among researchers and new voices in biotechnology while building programs that motivate participation, sharing of knowledge, and cross-disciplinary collaboration around areas such as longevity, brain health, and biotech innovation.

If you are enthusiastic about life sciences and enjoy bringing people together in a fast-moving, community-led scientific setting, this role offers a highly creative opportunity to make an impact at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, run, and expand online science communities, especially on Discord, including channel organization, onboarding journeys, bot setup, and engagement workflows.
  • Plan and lead community activities such as AMAs, journal clubs, voice discussions, and live online events.
  • Create and deliver community initiatives that drive participation, showcase member research, and support collaboration.
  • Spot relevant researchers, scientists, and emerging contributors, and bring them together to exchange ideas and work together.
  • Moderate conversations to keep the environment welcoming, inclusive, and focused on quality discussion.
  • Monitor engagement data and test new ideas, event formats, and community tactics to strengthen participation and overall community health.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or a similar scientific discipline.
  • Practical experience with online communities, especially Discord, Reddit, and/or X (Twitter); moderation experience is an advantage.
  • Strong written communication skills with an approachable, clear, and engaging style.
  • Confidence in hosting live sessions, voice conversations, and interactive community events.
  • Good planning and coordination abilities, with the capacity to juggle several initiatives at once.
  • A proactive, experimental mindset and a willingness to refine strategies through iteration.
  • Strong interest in biotechnology, life sciences, and scientific research communities.

Benefits

  • Fully remote arrangement with flexibility to work from anywhere.
  • The chance to help build and scale a global science community from the beginning.
  • A high-ownership role with room to shape and evolve community strategy.
  • Competitive compensation package.
  • Direct access to leading researchers and innovators in biotech and decentralized science.
  • The opportunity to work where science, technology, and community building meet.
  • A creative, mission-driven work environment.
