About the School
Etqan Global Academy (EGA) in Doha, Qatar is a premium International Baccalaureate world school delivering the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP). The school is seeking a caring and dependable nurse to support student health, wellbeing, and medical care, while helping maintain a safe and supportive environment across the campus.
Role Overview
The School Nurse will oversee the daily running of the medical room and provide nursing support to students and staff throughout the school day. This role combines hands-on first aid and clinical care with health education, record keeping, safeguarding support, and clear communication with families and external healthcare providers.
Key Duties
- Run the school medical room on a daily basis and keep it organised, supplied, safe, and ready for use.
- Deliver timely first aid and nursing care to students or staff who are unwell or injured during the day.
- Evaluate student health concerns, track symptoms, and escalate cases to outside medical professionals or emergency services when needed.
- Give prescribed medicines in line with individual care plans, school procedures, and Qatar health regulations.
- Keep complete, accurate, and confidential medical records, including student care plans for allergies and long-term health conditions.
- Support the safeguarding team by identifying and reporting wellbeing or welfare concerns.
- Plan and lead health education and wellbeing activities for students across all year groups.
- Maintain professional and proactive communication with parents, staff, and medical providers about student health issues.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant will be a qualified registered nurse with current registration from the NMC or an equivalent authority. Experience or training in paediatric nursing is required, along with current Paediatric First Aid and Basic Life Support / AED certification. A minimum of 2 years of post-registration nursing experience is preferred, ideally gained in a paediatric or school environment.
Skills and Experience
Strong safeguarding awareness, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work sensitively with children, parents, and colleagues from varied backgrounds are important. The role also requires excellent spoken and written English. Arabic is an advantage. Prior experience in Qatar or the Middle East, as well as familiarity with Qatar Ministry of Health requirements, would be beneficial.
