Scaffolding Skills Coach

Overview

The Scaffolding Skills Coach role based in Warrington involves technical coaching, assessment, and progress monitoring of apprentices in the scaffolding trade. The position requires close collaboration with apprentices, employers, supervisors, instructors, and quality staff to ensure apprentices develop occupational competence and are ready for their End-Point Assessments (EPA).

Role Details

• Deliver specialized scaffolding coaching rather than generic learner support.
• Confirm apprentice progress using workplace activities, reviews, off-the-job (OTJ) records, and portfolio evidence.
• Help apprentices build confidence, occupational skills, safe working practices, and EPA preparedness.

Key Responsibilities

• Coach apprentices on-site to enhance their scaffolding knowledge, practical ability, safety practices, and behaviours aligned with apprenticeship standards.
• Collaborate with Technical Instructors to link center learning with real workplace application.
• Identify and provide timely support and action plans for apprentices at risk of delay.
• Execute detailed Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Experience assessments to tailor individual learning plans.
• Maintain comprehensive learner journey documentation compliant with funding, quality processes, and audits.
• Plan and conduct tripartite reviews every 12 weeks with apprentices and employers to set and monitor SMART targets for progress and EPA readiness.
• Lead workplace visits that include multi-assessment, evidence collection, and observations with constructive feedback for skill improvement.
• Support apprentices in planning and documenting relevant off-the-job learning, ensuring accurate portfolio evidence and OTJ hour recordings within the learner management system.
• Engage with employers to provide quality workplace opportunities, promote the curriculum, and support apprentice career development within the scaffolding sector.
• Handle compliance tasks including safeguarding, welfare, and reporting concerns, adhering to organizational policies.
• Maintain continuous professional development (CPD) and stay informed on industry and apprenticeship standard changes.
