Role Overview
Capgemini is seeking an experienced SAP CAR Functional Consultant with solid expertise in SAP Customer Activity Repository, CAR Planning, and Unified Demand Forecast (UDF). The role is centered on retail-focused planning and forecasting work, including demand forecasting, replenishment planning, inventory optimization, and support across SAP CAR implementation landscapes.
Location and Experience
This position is based in Pune, India, with opportunities mentioned for Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, and Gandhinagar. The expected experience range is 4 to 15 years, including at least 2 years working specifically on SAP CAR.
Key Responsibilities
The consultant will contribute to SAP CAR rollout, upgrade, implementation, and support assignments. This includes understanding business needs, shaping them into workable functional designs, configuring relevant CAR components, and supporting testing, deployment, and ongoing issue resolution.
- Support end-to-end SAP CAR implementation, rollout, upgrade, and production support activities.
- Collect business requirements and convert them into practical SAP CAR functional solutions.
- Configure and maintain SAP CAR components such as POSDTA, OAA, DDF, UDF, and CAR Planning.
- Build and tune forecasting models using SAP UDF.
- Assist with demand planning, inventory planning, and replenishment optimization.
- Review sales patterns, seasonal movements, promotions, and forecast performance.
- Create forecasting approaches that improve stock availability and help reduce stock-outs.
- Work on integrations with SAP S/4HANA or ECC, SAP Retail, SAP BW/4HANA, SAP F&R, SAP IBP, POS platforms, and other third-party systems.
- Ensure smooth movement of master data and transactional data across connected systems.
- Lead workshops, fit-gap discussions, and solution design sessions.
- Prepare functional specifications and coordinate with technical teams for required developments.
- Participate in SIT, UAT, and production release activities.
- Support post-go-live stabilisation and resolve functional issues.
- Collaborate with business users, solution architects, and development teams.
- Recommend process improvements and system enhancements.
- Conduct end-user training and transfer knowledge to relevant stakeholders.
Skills and Experience Required
The role calls for strong functional SAP CAR knowledge, practical exposure to UDF and CAR Planning, and a good understanding of retail and supply chain processes. Experience with SAP HANA, data modeling, data extraction, and integration mechanisms is also important, along with basic ABAP debugging knowledge being an advantage.
