SAP BASIS Architect (Solman, Cloud ALM) - Senior Manager

Role overview

This position sits within PwC’s Managed Services and Application Evolution Services teams. The role is focused on helping clients run, improve, and modernize their SAP landscapes while supporting ongoing transformation, operational efficiency, and business value creation across enterprise applications.

The work combines technical delivery, advisory support, client engagement, and leadership across SAP operations, upgrades, migrations, and cloud-enabled tools.

What you will do

• Lead and support SAP landscape activities across installations, upgrades, migrations, and S/4HANA conversion programs.
• Handle planning and execution for SAP-related installs, including S/4HANA, databases, BusinessObjects, and add-ons.
• Support end-to-end SAP version upgrades such as service packs and major release changes.
• Configure and work with SAP cloud solutions including BTP, SAC, and Cloud Connector.
• Contribute to SAP migration projects and S/4 conversion workstreams.
• Manage administration and troubleshooting across HANA and MS SQL database environments.
• Work on SAP Solution Manager setup, implementation, and configuration.
• Provide architecture support for SAP S/4 and NetWeaver systems.
• Handle system refreshes, client copies, performance tuning, and related technical problem resolution.
• Configure SAML-based single sign-on between SAP systems and support SAP Fiori configuration and issue resolution.
• Communicate with end users, business teams, NOC, hosting operations, IT, and other stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.
• Act as a subject matter expert, mentor team members, and conduct boot camps and learning sessions.
• Prepare and maintain technical/process documentation and project status updates for clients and senior leadership.
• Support escalations and ensure tasks and issues are resolved within committed timelines.
• Contribute to RFP responses, estimations, project management, and customer-facing discussions, including pre-sales support where needed.

Experience and background

The role calls for a seasoned SAP professional with deep exposure to Basis architecture, HANA administration, SAP Solution Manager, S/4HANA administration, migration programs, and cloud tooling. Experience in working across global, cross-functional, and cross-cultural teams is important.

Technical focus

Hands-on capability is expected in SAP S/4 conversion, database administration, SAP version upgrades, system installation and administration, cloud offerings from SAP, and troubleshooting performance issues. Strong familiarity with UNIX/Linux, Windows, BOBJ, Data Services, ITIL practices, and SAP best-practice methodologies is also part of the profile.

Communication and leadership expectations

Successful candidates should be proactive, self-driven, customer-facing, and capable of negotiating effectively. Strong English communication skills, both spoken and written, are essential. The role also includes mentoring, knowledge sharing, and supporting delivery teams with SME guidance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Preferred fields of study include BE, B Tech, ME, M Tech, MBA, B.Sc, B.Com, and BBA.
• Experience required: 19 to 22 years.
• Preferred certification: ITIL 4.
• Preferred knowledge/skills include PMP certification.
• At least one SAP Associate-level certification and a HANA database certification are required.
