Job Overview
This role is based at the Cook Chill Food Production Center located on the premises of the Maplehurst Correctional Facility. It is important to note that Cook Chill functions independently from Maplehurst Corrections, with no inmate presence on-site, and no interaction between staff and inmates.
Primary Responsibilities
- Ensure assigned areas maintain cleanliness and sanitation in line with prescribed schedules and procedures.
- Adhere strictly to approved sanitation methods for designated work zones.
- Comply fully with safety protocols, health regulations, and standard operating practices.
- Correctly utilize and care for all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Follow Workplace Health & Safety Programs, Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), HACCP standards, and WHMIS regulations diligently.
- Report accidents, unsafe conditions, and incidents promptly to support investigative efforts.
- Collaborate with colleagues to fulfill operational and production demands effectively.
- Work according to established schedules, including hours and breaks.
- Execute any supplementary tasks as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Previous experience in regulated environments with adherence to HACCP, GMP, WHMIS, and health and safety standards is advantageous.
- Physical capability to perform tasks such as lifting at least 25 pounds, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling equipment.
- Ability to stand throughout the shift and tolerate work in cold environments.
- Strict compliance with two-person lift protocols for all bins.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and comply with direction.
- Comprehensive knowledge of workplace sanitation standards and compliance requirements.
- Flexibility and adaptability to shifting work routines and priorities.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient English communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Positive demeanor with a strong customer service orientation.
- Teamwork skills conducive to cooperative work environments.
- Understanding of HACCP guidelines, food safety principles, and Occupational Health & Safety Act responsibilities.
- Commitment to wearing job-specific PPE at all times.
- Ability to obtain Advanced Food Safety Training (FST) certification within 90 days of employment.
- Successful completion of vulnerable sector screening, criminal background checks, and any other required security clearances.
Compensation
The hourly wage for this position is $20.30.
