Job Summary
We are looking for a reliable and motivated Sanitation Team Member to join our hatchery team in Hanover, ON. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the hatchery environment, including equipment, rooms, and tray washing operations. Your efforts will support animal care standards, food safety, and production goals.
Work Schedule
- Shifts on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday starting at 5:30 AM or 6:00 AM
- Wednesday shifts starting at 6:00 AM
- End times vary depending on production requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize equipment, floors, walls, ceilings, filters, ductwork, tops, and tunnels
- Perform start-up, operation, and shut-down of tray washer machinery
- Wash and inspect hatch tray rollers, returning them for tray washing
- Use power hoses to remove stubborn dirt and debris from trays
- Remove trays from washer, inspect them, and organize them on clean rollers during operator downtime
- Disinfect stacks of hatching trays to maintain hygiene standards
- Support setter sanitation every Wednesday
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements
- Dependability with excellent attendance and punctuality
- Meticulous attention to detail and adherence to safe work practices
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including statutory holidays, based on production needs
- Capability to perform repetitive tasks in fast-paced, wet, and humid environments
- Comfortable working in varying temperatures and at heights using ladders and equipment tops
- Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift, push, carry 30 to 50 pounds repeatedly, including overhead lifting
- Understanding and commitment to Animal Welfare, PCP, and Biosecurity standards
- Proven performance and good attendance in current positions
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly wage ranging from $21.56 to $22.56, progression based
- Personal protective equipment provided to employees
- Boot reimbursement of $125 after completing three months of service
