About ALS and the Role

Join ALS and become part of a global team dedicated to scientific testing and data insights that contribute to a healthier future. We are currently seeking multiple Sample Preparers to join our Geochemistry site based in Malaga, Western Australia. These positions involve fast-paced, hands-on work supporting mining and exploration projects across the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a variety of sample preparation machinery following prescribed quality work instructions (QWIs).
  • Sort incoming mineral samples according to client documentation and record any discrepancies.
  • Apply barcode labels to samples and accurately log sample weights using the Gems system.
  • Transfer samples to drying racks after scanning.
  • Perform crushing, riffle splitting, splitting, sieving, and drying of samples at specified temperatures according to procedure.
  • Use pulverising mills to prepare samples to meet required specifications.
  • Report any issues promptly to supervisors, including equipment breakdowns or sample condition problems.
  • Maintain equipment and ensure clean work environments.

Role Requirements

  • Availability to work full-time, Monday to Friday with a rotating fortnightly shift schedule: two weeks day shift, two weeks night shift, and two weeks afternoon shift.
  • Adherence to safety protocols, including mandatory use of half-face respirators in a dusty environment; must be clean-shaven to ensure proper seal.
  • Physical fitness to handle repetitive manual tasks in a dust-prone setting.
  • Reliability, strong attention to detail, and capability to follow strict procedures.
  • Previous production experience and shift flexibility highly beneficial.
  • Commitment to working as part of a high-performing safety-focused team.

Additional Information

This casual position requires full-time hours and a willingness to rotate shifts on a biweekly basis to cover day, night, and afternoon schedules. The role is physically demanding and includes working in a dusty environment where respiratory protection is mandatory.
