About the Role
Essar International Pte Ltd is looking for a seasoned and goal-oriented Sales Manager specializing in Marine HVAC/R and Ship Supplies to be based in Singapore. The successful candidate will spearhead new business growth, nurture key customer relationships, and lead sales efforts for marine HVAC/R systems, compressors, spares, equipment, technical services, and general ship supplies. A comprehensive knowledge of the marine and offshore industries, along with a strong network within this sector, is essential. This role encompasses managing the entire sales process, including opportunity identification, quotation preparation, order confirmation, and project coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify prospective clients, develop leads, and convert inquiries into confirmed orders.
- Design and implement sales strategies that align with revenue goals and market expansion plans.
- Market marine HVAC/R systems, compressors, refrigeration equipment, spare parts, technical services, and ship supplies to shipowners, shipmanagers, vessel operators, and marine service operators.
- Engage in customer site visits, deliver sales presentations, lead technical discussions, and conduct product demonstrations as necessary.
- Foster and sustain long-term relationships with existing clients while actively seeking new business opportunities.
- Keep abreast of market trends, competitor activities, customer needs, and forthcoming marine/offshore projects.
- Represent the company at client meetings, industry conferences, exhibitions, and networking events.
- Review customer inquiries and prepare detailed and accurate techno-commercial quotations, tender submissions, and proposals.
- Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturers, technical teams, and service partners to gather pricing and technical data.
- Follow up on quotations, negotiate terms, manage purchase orders, and confirm projects.
- Participate in commercial negotiations and assist in contract discussions.
- Ensure pricing, margin, payment terms, delivery timelines, and commercial conditions are thoroughly reviewed prior to order confirmation.
- Maintain precise sales forecasts, enquiry logs, quotation tracking, and customer information records.
- Collaborate with operations, procurement, logistics, and technical teams to assure timely delivery and execution of orders and projects.
- Monitor delivery progress, service jobs, vessel attendances, and respond to customer needs.
- Ensure smooth communication between customers, suppliers, service engineers, and internal departments throughout project duration.
- Provide regular updates to customers regarding order status, delivery schedules, technical details, and project progress.
- Support post-sale activities including technical clarifications, warranty issues, and feedback collection.
- Prepare professional and accurate project documentation, reports, and commercial records.
- Follow up on pending payments and assist finance with customer collections when necessary.
Requirements
- Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, HVAC/Refrigeration, Business Administration, or related field. Equivalent industry experience is also considered.
- A minimum of five years' business-to-business sales experience in Marine, Offshore, Shipbuilding, Oil & Gas, HVAC/R, marine equipment, or ship supply sectors.
- Comprehensive understanding of marine HVAC/R systems, compressors, refrigeration setups, spare parts, technical services, and ship supply operations.
- Established connections with shipowners, ship managers, shipyards, vessel operators, offshore firms, or marine contractors is highly beneficial.
- Proven track record in lead generation, account development, negotiation, and successful deal closure.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and client management skills.
- Commercial acumen with a focus on targets and results.
- Ability to grasp technical requirements and effectively liaise with customers, engineers, suppliers, and service teams.
- Self-driven, well-organized, and capable of handling multiple enquiries and projects concurrently.
- Exhibits professional demeanor, positive attitude, and takes ownership of business development initiatives.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and familiar with sales or CRM systems.
- Willingness to travel for customer visits, vessel inspections, shipyard meetings, or project locations as required.
Work Conditions
This is a full-time, office-based role in Singapore adhering to standard office hours. However, occasional travel, customer site visits, vessel attendances, or after-hours coordination might be necessary depending on operational needs.
