Job description

Overview

The Galmont Hotel, part of the MHL Hotel Collection, is seeking an experienced Sales Manager to lead corporate and MICE accounts for Galway and the surrounding market. This is a strong opportunity for someone who is committed to the hotel sector and wants to grow professionally within a well-regarded property and senior leadership environment.

The role is focused on increasing hotel revenue through corporate rate negotiation, MICE and group business proposals, and consistent sales performance aligned to the hotel’s business plan.

Key responsibilities

  • Build and manage a strong sales pipeline aimed at priority markets, with a clear focus on measurable results and meeting budgeted sales and profit targets across all business segments.
  • Follow up SFDC pipeline activity promptly and keep sales timelines moving toward closure.
  • Handle key accounts and priority prospects to maximize revenue in line with budget goals for corporate, MICE, and group business.
  • Arrange external sales visits to current and potential clients.
  • Host hotel site inspections and client entertainment where appropriate to support business development.
  • Maintain 12 weekly appointments and keep SFDC updated in a timely manner; this is noted as changing to 10 appointments.
  • Develop and sustain strong working relationships with corporate planners, DMCs, and MICE contacts.
  • Represent the hotel at relevant trade fairs, ensuring the property is presented professionally and every sales opportunity is pursued.
  • Maintain a solid understanding of the competitive market and stay current on business trends, customer needs, occupancy potential, and rate positioning.
  • Create, coordinate, and execute quarterly sales action plans in partnership with the Director of Sales and Marketing, including related plans, activities, and promotions.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a busy, fast-moving setting and manage priorities with care. Strong accuracy, attention to detail, and a clear, professional communication style are essential. The role also calls for good collaboration across departments, along with resourcefulness and creativity when resolving challenges.
