Job description
About the team
High Growth Ventures (HGV) is KPMG’s specialist group supporting startup and scale-up founders through important growth stages, from early-stage development through scale, maturity, and readiness for transaction. The team works with ambitious technology-driven businesses across Australia, linking them with KPMG’s capabilities in growth, governance, transactions, tax, risk, and advisory support both locally and internationally. The culture combines startup-style energy and speed with the structure, professionalism, and global reach of a major firm.
About the role
As a Sales Development Representative, you will be responsible for progressing leads, creating sales pipeline, and serving as a central connection point between Marketing, Business Development, and Portfolio teams. Performance in this role is evaluated based on lead quality, how effectively leads move through the funnel, and the contribution made to pipeline generation.
Key responsibilities
- Manage inbound leads from the initial contact stage through qualification or rejection, with fast response times and strong alignment to the ideal customer profile.
- Create pipeline through focused outbound outreach across priority segments and campaign groups using phone, email, and LinkedIn.
- Evaluate opportunities with structured qualification criteria, professional judgement, and AI-enabled tools to keep only strong leads moving forward.
- Schedule well-qualified meetings for the sales team, using strict screening standards and confirming details in advance to reduce no-shows.
- Protect the sales calendar by acting as a quality checkpoint across the funnel and improving conversion through careful lead handling.
- Work closely with Marketing, Business Development, and Portfolio teams to run campaigns, align priorities, and share feedback on lead quality.
- Monitor activity and results, then use those insights to refine targeting, messaging, and qualification methods.
Requirements
- Previous experience in an SDR, sales, or business development role.
- Sound judgement when evaluating lead quality and purchase intent.
- Strong organisational ability with consistent follow-through.
- Comfort and confidence when dealing with senior stakeholders.
- Prior exposure to CRM platforms, with HubSpot experience preferred.
- Familiarity with startups and technology-led businesses is an advantage.
- A collaborative mindset, willingness to be coached, and a growth-oriented attitude.
- Completed tertiary qualification.
