Sales Associates deliver prompt, courteous service by proactively approaching customers, understanding what they need, and offering the right help. The role places strong emphasis on product and department knowledge, explaining product features, and identifying related items so the customer can complete an entire project. Team members in this role are expected to greet customers, engage with them, and thank them, while also being able to provide basic support in nearby departments. The focus is on customer service and on identifying and resolving customer needs effectively.
Responsibilities

- Look for customers across the store and guide them to the right merchandise, no matter which department it is in.
- Use open-ended questions to understand the customer’s project, their needs, and how experienced they are.
- Explain and promote available services such as Special Services, Tool Rental, Pro Desk, and Pro Services, and direct customers to the right option.
- Present product choices using a good-better-best approach and recommend related items or services from outside the department when needed.
- Help customers understand the full scope of their project and what they may need to complete it.
- Use the empowerment program where appropriate to resolve customer issues and improve satisfaction.
- Keep the department’s stock presentation in order by making sure products are signed, displayed properly, and kept clean.
- Maintain strong knowledge of products in the assigned department as well as adjacent departments.
- Take initiative to learn about all products and services available in the store.
- Follow safety rules and loss prevention procedures at all times.
Requirements

- 1 to 2 years of retail or trade experience is considered an advantage.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Comfort working in a warehouse-style environment that may be dusty and noisy.
- Ability to handle physical tasks such as bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving merchandise.
- No travel is required.
- No leadership experience is required.
- No certifications are required.
- No additional requirements or assets were specified.
