About the Operating Company

This role is with one of Banyan Software’s expanding operating companies, which leads the market in demographic data, economic analysis, and community insights for the public sector. Its solutions are relied on by hundreds of local councils across Australia, enabling government leaders and communities to make planning, service, and investment decisions based on evidence. With continued momentum across local, state, and federal government, there is significant room to deepen existing relationships and grow into additional regions and agencies.

Role Overview

The Sales & Account Manager will be responsible for commercial performance across a QLD & NT territory of government clients. This is a quota-bearing, hands-on position within the Government team, with the main focus on local government and potential reach into state government and selected federal agencies. The role combines proactive new business development with consultative account management and requires close partnership with Customer Success, Product, Marketing, and Consulting teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive new revenue by identifying, qualifying, and closing new government customers within the assigned region.
  • Manage renewals from start to finish and work toward retaining more than 95% of existing logos in the portfolio.
  • Expand account value by uncovering and closing upsell and cross-sell opportunities through insight-led, consultative discussions.
  • Develop trusted relationships with council CEOs, directors, and other senior stakeholders across the territory.
  • Lead government procurement activity by preparing persuasive proposals and handling tenders, panels, and related processes.
  • Build strong knowledge of local government trends, pain points, and planning frameworks in the region.
  • Partner internally with Customer Success, Product, Marketing, and Consulting to improve client outcomes and influence product direction.
  • Maintain accurate HubSpot CRM records and provide regular updates on pipeline, forecast, and account health.

What the Role Requires

  • Solid background in B2B sales or account management, preferably within SaaS, data, or analytics.
  • Proven success in meeting or surpassing targets for both new business and retention.
  • Experience selling into government or working in government, or a strong understanding of public sector buying processes.
  • Ability to manage a broad account portfolio while also building new pipeline opportunities.
  • Commercial judgement to create proposals, negotiate agreements, and handle complex stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong CRM discipline, ideally with hands-on experience using HubSpot.
  • Interest in data, evidence-based decisions, and outcomes that benefit communities.

Compensation and Additional Information

The position includes a competitive base salary along with a performance-based incentive tied to new business, retention, and expansion goals.
