About the role
KONE is looking for a Safety Specialist to join its team in Riyadh and help strengthen the organization’s safety culture. Safety is treated as a core business principle at KONE, and this position is focused on improving how safety is managed, communicated, and practiced across the unit. This role supports the continuous development of the safety management system and works closely with internal teams, customers, partners, and subcontractors to promote safer operations and reduce risk.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in implementing, maintaining, and enhancing the safety management system, covering worker, user, and third-party safety.
- Encourage a strong safety mindset and lead by example in day-to-day work.
- Prepare, update, and improve safety documentation with the unit safety team.
- Take part in unit safety committees and other safety-related discussions and forums.
- Offer expert guidance to the unit on safety matters and preventive actions.
- Plan and support projects and initiatives designed to improve safety performance.
- Coordinate with customers, partners, and KONE subcontractors on safety matters.
- Help develop, review, and test crisis response and emergency preparedness plans.
- Track and improve safety risk management tools, processes, and practices.
- Support change management activities that affect safety.
- Collect, verify, and analyze leading and lagging safety data, then report performance results.
- Monitor changes in legal and business requirements related to safety and recommend suitable actions.
- Carry out regular safety audits to check compliance, identify hidden risks, and spot deviations.
- Support line managers during audits and site visits, and help improve the audit process.
- Investigate incidents and analyze findings, while contributing to better investigation methods.
- Oversee corrective and preventive actions to drive continuous improvement.
- Build personal expertise as a safety specialist in collaboration with the manager.
- Support the development of safety knowledge and skills across the unit.
- Share safety updates, investigation outcomes, and best practices in a proactive manner.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- At least 5 years of experience in safety within elevators, construction, or similar industries.
- Minimum 5 years of safety-related work experience overall.
- Strong communication, training, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work effectively with teams and stakeholders in a safety-focused environment.
- NEBOSH and IOSH certifications are mandatory.
- Excellent command of both English and Arabic.
