Role Overview
We are looking for a full-time Safety Officer to work on-site in Thoothukudi. The role entails supervising workplace safety by enforcing health, safety, and environmental policies. Key duties include conducting safety inspections, assessing risks, performing audits, recognizing hazards, and advising on corrective actions. The Safety Officer will also organize and lead safety training programs, maintain documentation of safety practices, and assist in investigating accidents and incidents. Collaboration with operational, managerial, and security teams is essential to support a robust safety culture and promote continuous safety improvements.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Comprehensive understanding of health and occupational safety standards and legal requirements.
- Proficient in conducting accident investigations, incident analysis, and identifying root causes with preventive recommendations.
- Experienced in creating and delivering safety awareness and training programs effectively.
- Knowledgeable about security protocols and coordination to ensure secure site management and access control.
- Educational background including a diploma or degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Engineering, or related disciplines is preferred; recognized certifications like NEBOSH or IOSH are advantageous.
- Experience working in industrial, manufacturing, or infrastructure sectors with competence in risk and emergency response management.
- Strong communication, keen observation, and detailed reporting abilities facilitating teamwork across departments.
- Capable of enforcing compliance fairly, maintaining precise records, and adapting to evolving operational demands.
